Parents across the country are well into that shopping frenzy known as “back to school.” It doesn’t matter whether you’re dealing with little ones heading off to kindergarten, or you’re seeing your eldest off to college; parents everywhere end up spending too much time and money running around and getting their children supplies for the coming school year. Admittedly, those college students should be taking matters into their own hands by that age, but as often as not, the parents are at least helping to foot the bill.
One of the first things parents need to learn is this: stop driving around chasing back to school sales and bargains. You’re wasting your time, your money and wearing yourself out! Maybe you still have to do a bit of running around to get junior’s stylish new wardrobe, but why would you drive to three different stores looking for the best price on 1 inch binders? By the time you pay for the gas you burned during your travels, you could easily have paid for the binders, not to mention the time out of your busy day.
Here’s a valuable piece of advice that works whether you want to save money on supplies, reclaim some of your time from the shopping rat race, or both. You can find all of the back to school supplies your child could ever want, need or imagine, online at a discount office supply seller. Better yet, by going this route, you can get free delivery to your home (usually based on a minimum order amount), the selection beats anything you’d find in a brick and mortar store, and prices are significantly better than you’ll find in stores too. If you have more than one child or there are items that you tend to use in quantity (adhesive note pads, for example), you can often buy them in bulk for further savings.
You might think that a site geared toward selling discount office supplies wouldn’t carry products suitable for school-age children, but there are office supply web sites that offer such a wide range of products that everything is covered. I was online this morning shopping for myself (I’m a kindergarten teacher as well as a mother) and my order included: glue sticks, crayons, pencil crayons, tempera paint, washable markers, felt sheets, colored paper and facial tissues. I also picked up CD labels, pens, binders and inkjet printer refills for my son, who’s off to college. He could have bought those at the campus store, but he would have paid twice as much for them.
